Crynodeb:This project works towards developing intercultural capability in university students to improve collaboration in culturally diverse groups. During the project online collaborative sessions between Australian students and students from other countries (Singapore and Sweden) were recorded and analysed in terms of student's interactions. The study shows that students are very enthusiastic about participating in the project but lack confidence and skills, and most importantly understanding of the meaning of being interculturally capable in the context of a professional work environment. This project focuses on engineering students; however, the issues and concepts are general and the same model can be applied to other disciplines. The project has developed a framework that includes samples of materials, which can be directly used by engineering students for online collaboration with students from other countries/cultures. It also includes open access to the University of South Australia remote laboratory NetLab that is a unique learning environment for online collaborative laboratory experimentation. The framework experiments have been incorporated into the electrical engineering curriculum at the University of South Australia. An equally important outcome of this project is the valuable knowledge and experience gained by the students and staff who participated in this project. [p.1, ed]
