Yhteenveto:In the context of the current fast-changing healthcare environment, innovative and contemporary education is paramount. Bridging the gap between Master's level education, workplace learning and practice is essential given accreditation of largely workplace-based courses, emphasis on attainment of standards through the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency, and focus on quality clinical training by the Office of Learning and Teaching. While teaching and learning occurs off-campus for many post-graduate degrees, this workplace education is recognised in the degree testamur. An empirically derived set of competencies for specialty clinical practice in healthcare and an accompanying framework of educational governance (quality) for workplace learning and teaching will be developed using a nurse practitioner Master's program as a pilot. This role is a well established, health service reform model with preliminary success in bridging workplace learning and academic requirements. Materials for teaching, learning and assessment of advanced speciality competencies using a capability approach will be developed for
