Summary:Report of a project that developed a system of multi-level academic leadership in three departments of an Australian university, using a distributed leadership model. The goals of the project were to: promote and implement a sustainable and systematic leadership and organisational development model for the enhancement of assessment practice across higher education institutions; develop a transparent and coherent policy framework for assessment and feedback at all levels (unit, program, department and division); foster 'leaders of effective assessment practice' at all levels of the institution by enhancing these leaders' scholarly understanding of assessment and feedback in higher education and their knowledge and ability to work in cross-level and integrated teams; establish a community of practice in higher education assessment and feedback across the sector. The LEAP (Leaders in Effective Assessment Practice) model for developing higher education leadership capacity in assessment was used. [p.8, ed]
