Description
Résumé:Many students enter university with poor scientific writing skills yet written communication skill remains the single most critical attribute for success in higher education. This is the final report from a project that, using the principles of multiple-exemplar training, aimed to develop, deliver and evaluate an interactive digital workbook designed to assist students in learning to discriminate good and poor writing in order to enhancing their written communication skills. Following assessment of examples of student writing, a corpus of examples of good and poor writing were developed and compiled into an interactive digital workbook. First year students were invited to participate in the evaluation of the workbook and, for analysis, also completed an evaluation of the workbook and questionnaires related to their vocabulary, numeracy and discrimination of good and poor writing skills. To assess academic benefits that could flow from use of the workbook their performance in academic tasks was also analysed before and after completion of the workbook.
