| Περίληψη: | Educational institutions' failure to provide timely, high-quality feedback to students is regularly reported as a major area of student dissatisfaction in Australian course experience questionnaires. Records management and reporting structures are often of mixed quality, as is the integration and tracking of graduate attributes and learning outcomes. Poor feedback and engagement with students directly impacts on enrolments and attrition. ReMarks is a multilingual enterprise level software development project with a clear focus on building student feedback and engagement through the assessment process. It is a new type of software known as a feedback management system. Stage 1 of the project had as its focus the creation of a PDF editor enabling cross-platform mark up of student electronic assessment submissions. In addition, the project has delivered ReMarksXML, a Word add-in designed for marking. Both tools provide detailed text, image, and audio feedback to students and assessors. The project has also delivered training films and a manual to help integrate the products into the education sector. Dissemination of the project outcomes has occurred through the establishment of a ReMarks website, a secure ftp site, a social networking site, and via presentations conducted in tertiary institutions around Australia.
