| Sažetak: | This report looked at the student mental health support and assistance. Psychological distress in the tertiary student population is a largely unrecognised epidemic. Recent Australian research has demonstrated particularly high rates of psychological distress amongst tertiary students, four times that of population peers. Previous attempts to provide solutions for tertiary student distress have ostensibly ignored the behaviours and preferences of adolescents and young people, such as their avoidance of formal forms of assistance, a preference for talking to peers, an avoidance of potential confidentiality conflicts, fears of academic jeopardy, and a tendency to do more for peers rather than for themselves. This project aimed to present not only an alternative paradigm for dealing with student distress, but also to trial a new approach and method. The objective was to develop a prototype online delivered resource that enables students to recognise and support a student in distress. The use of a web content management system (CMS) will enable the resource to be appropriately scalable for through-put, platform releases, and resource development. |
