Crynodeb:Implant dentistry is the fastest developing and most dynamic area in dentistry. This is the final report from a project that aimed to support strategic change, and to develop collaborative, cross-disciplinary leadership capacity for institutions in the field of implant dentistry. The leadership envisioned involves the development of the long- term and sustainable capacity to design, produce, and deliver cross-disciplinary education within implant dentistry, addressing the needs of the undergraduate curriculum, and of communities of local practitioners. A critical mass of expertise from institutional, national and international sources was developed and directed towards providing structured support for academic leadership through a cross-disciplinary, blended-learning curriculum in implant dentistry, and a supportive peer and expert network. This curriculum targeted the needs of both undergraduate students and local general dental practitioners. The developed expertise is directed toward the development of leadership and mentoring capacity among junior staff members, postgraduate students, and researchers who then undertake leading roles in the teaching of implant dentistry, both within and outside institutions facilitating long-term sustainable change.
