| Zusammenfassung: | Objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) are a regular component of nursing and midwifery programs in Australia and internationally. OSCEs are a valuable strategy for learning and assessment of 'fitness to practice' in clinical practice, however, there is little pedagogical guidance on how they should be utilised. This project will develop a framework that guides the implementation of best practice guidelines for OSCEs in diverse nursing and midwifery education programs across Australia, to advance students' clinical competence. Four trial sites, featuring simulation laboratories, nursing and midwifery programs and remote clinical learning environments will trial and evaluate the best practice guidelines. Feedback from staff and students will inform the principles generated for the implementation framework. The project will develop a range of learning and assessment strategies. The preliminary evidence of the effectiveness of the best practice guidelines for OSCEs within nursing programs will be used to improve further student confidence and outcomes. |
