| 总结: | Project Findings: This study set out to map the variation of honours in Australian higher education, and to scope the roles and practices of Australian honours degrees in order to provide the higher education sector with a comprehensive account of the current status of honours and the issues surrounding it, from disciplinary to policy levels. It identified limitations in the current thinking on honours and contributed to sector debates. The project identified and responded to key concerns about Australian honours degrees. These included whether honours is an adequate benchmark for PhD scholarship allocation, and whether it should continue to be a benchmark for PhD entry and scholarship; whether honours programs should include a set of core features; how honours positioned in the academy; what graduate attributes and destinations are enabled by honours; and what pace honours has in a global environment. The project developed an issues paper circulated throughout the sector, interviewed honours convenors, and executed an online survey of the honours students of the interviewees. The report sets out two major outcomes resulting from the findings: implications for the current state and future of honours; and recommendations for recasting the honours debate. |
